Pitt Construction ensures pipeline reliability for local gas company in Wyoming’s Green River Basin
A local gas company was concerned about a stretch of pipeline after noticing pipe movement and settling of earth in Wyoming’s Green River Basin. These conditions are unique to this area because of the nearby underground mining operations. This movement can put stress on pipelines, and effect service reliability.
The lines were exposed allowing them to relax and keep stress at a minimum. Pitt Construction’s pipeline team then inspected the coating and repaired the anomalies they found. Protective material was also installed to ensure pipeline integrity.
Derrick Ingle, Pitt Construction project foreman said, “Some of these lines were installed prior to the 1960’s. The work we did will ensure that these pipelines remain in safe and in an operationally reliable condition for the next several years.” Additionally, Pitt Construction installed new strain gauges on the pipeline. These gauges will enable the gas company to monitor potential stress on this stretch of pipeline for the next several years.
